Hare Canyon Trail | Stub Stewart State Park

Map of Stub Stewart State Park

To get to Hare canyon trail, we had to park at the Hilltop Day-use Area located inside Stub Stewart State Park. Stub Stewart State Park is in Washington County near Buxton, Or. The loop Inga and I ended up doing was just under 4 miles. We walked a little extra around the parking lot to hit the 4-mile mark. I’ll have Strava and Google maps below the photos for those of you who are interested in visiting the area.

Inga on Hare Canyon Trail

We had to cut through the Disc Golf Area to access Hare Canyon Trail. From Hare Canyon Trail, our goal was to reach Unfit Settlement Viewpoint.

This hike was my first chance to test out my new Olympus Micro 4/3 camera. I ended up going with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II. I am loving it so far, and looking forward to using it with a tripod.

Made it to Unfit Settlement View

We arrived at the viewpoint and found this rock waiting for us.

End of Our Loop

About 1.25 miles later, our loop had taken us back to the Hilltop Day-Use Area. We enjoyed the trail, and the state park itself is really well maintained. The fee was $5.00 and the machine at the parking lot we were at only took cards. If you have cash, you can pay at the visitor’s center. With a lot more hiking trails in the park to explore, I bet that we will be back soon.
